ANZAC Day holds deep meaning for communities across Australia, and here in the Furneaux Group of islands, it resonates in a uniquely personal way. We are a small place, but like so many others, our families have long ties to service—names passed down, stories shared quietly at kitchen tables, medals tucked into drawers. On this day, we pause to honour those who served, those we lost, and those who came home forever changed.

It’s a time to gather - at dawn, in silence, by memorials that carry the weight of memory - and to reflect on the values the Anzacs showed us: courage, mateship, and quiet strength. We carry their legacy not just in ceremonies, but in the way we support each other as a community, year after year.
