This initiative is built on collaboration and inclusivity. The development and execution of the program will be a joint effort, involving parents, community members, and experts in early childhood education and care. Unlike a one-size-fits-all approach, this initiative will be tailored to meet the unique needs of our diverse community.

In a recent session held in April, parents and stakeholders came together to contribute their insights on shaping early childhood learning. From these discussions, the Flinders Municipality has been chosen to partner with the Department of Education, Children and Young People to pilot an early learning service for three year olds that directly addresses the needs of our local community. The anticipated launch is set for 2024.

A productive session took place on Tuesday, 17th August, where we delved deeper into our aspirations for the early learning service. We explored who could operate it, days and times of attendance, and more. To ensure that this initiative truly represents our needs, a dedicated working group will be established to finalise the specifics. Over 50% of this group will consist of parents from our community – a rare opportunity for direct community involvement in service design.

It's not every day that communities get to play such a pivotal role in shaping essential services. Often, decisions are made from distant locations without an intimate understanding of our unique requirements. That's why we urge all those who may benefit from this service now or in the future to actively participate when called upon.

Stay tuned for more updates on this remarkable journey as we pave the way for accessible and tailored early learning experiences that truly reflect our community's needs.
