In 2013 the Flinders Island District High School was awarded second in the Tasmanian Junior Landcare Awards for their sustainable garden projects.

Natural Resource Management (NRM) refers to the management of natural resources such as land, water, soil, plants and animals. NRM is especially interested in how management may affect the quality of life for both present and future generations. Natural Resource Management North (NRM North) invests in:

  • support for community groups undertaking environmental activities;
  • support for landholders wanting to undertake NRM activities such as fencing creeks and remnant bush, re-vegetation and weed control;
  • providing advice to new landholders about environmental aspects of their land;
  • environmental monitoring;
  • community education.

 Please contact NRM North for more information.
