Boating Committee News
Council received a $120,000 grant from the State Government to upgrade and maintain the three Council-owned boat ramps at Palana, Emita, and Whitemark, and to potentially construct a second boat ramp at Whitemark on the north side of the jetty.
Full plans are available for viewing here.
A Special Committee of Council, consisting of community members, councillors, and council staff, was formed to prioritise the maintenance needs of these boat ramps.
The works undertaken to date include:
- Whitemark Boat Ramp: Replacement and extension of all fenders, and installation of a life ring.
- Emita/Port Davies: Filling in washout areas at the entrance and grading the unsealed approach to the boat ramp.
- Palana: Renewal of cleats and replacement of wooden guide rails.
Recently, the Committee has been developing a plan to extend the Whitemark boat ramp jetty by 6 meters and to construct a second boat ramp on the north side of the jetty. Full plans are available for viewing here.
Council and the Committee highly value community engagement in the decision-making process. We are eager to gather your feedback on the proposed plans, the completed works, or any other comments you have regarding the boat ramps.
