Patriarchs

Patriarchs image

The North, Middle and South Patriarchs are three large granite outcrops on the East Coast of Flinders Island. Stoney Lagoon, in front of South Patriarch, is popular with birdwatchers. Middle Patriarch’s peak can be reached by 4WD and offers superb views. Climb South Patriarch to 192m and discover an old survey trig station.

Patriarch Sanctuary, located on the East Coast of Flinders Island, was established in the late 1970s to protect the Cape Barren Goose. An A-frame building and BBQ area are available for use by visitors. Feed wallabies, pademellons, echidnas and geese.

Call in to the Visitor Information Centre for directions for the sanctuary.
