The main residential and business centre of Flinders Island is Whitemark. Here you will find: a supermarket, butcher, bakery, cafe, general store, service station and Post Office. Whitemark comes alive on boat day – when all the food and provisions arrive on the Island and the locals swarm to buy up the fresh produce.
The Visitor Information Centre is located at Flinders Council, next door to the Library and Access Centre and the community rose garden, which is always worth a visit. Whitemark is also the cultural hub of the Island with the Flinders Arts & Entertainment Centre and community Art Gallery exhibiting and selling local creations.
Keep fit walking or cycling the Bluff Track Fitness Trail or play a round of golf at the 9-hole golf course, which has only been parred once in its 40-year history! Swim in the warm waters of Parrys Bay or fish from the wharf as the sun sets, or drop by the bar at the Interstate Hotel on a Friday night to meet the friendly locals.
