Agsafe Programs at the Whitemark Waste Facility

Flinders Council supports the Agsafe stewardship programs to help safely manage agricultural chemical containers, bags and unwanted chemicals.

The following programs are available at the Whitemark Waste Facility:

 

drumMUSTER

Eligible AgVet chemical containers can be recycled through the drumMUSTER program.

• Standard collection days are held on the first Wednesday of each month.
• During the busy spring farming season, additional collection days operate from August to November Tuesday 8-11am to accommodate increased demand.
• Containers must display the drumMUSTER logo (on the label, embossed into the container, or applied as a sticker) and be cleaned to the required standard before being presented.
• Containers that do not display the drumMUSTER logo or do not meet the cleanliness requirements cannot be accepted.
• Loads of more than 20 containers can be booked at alternative times by contacting the Waste Management team.

 

Preparing Your drumMUSTER Containers

Every container is inspected before it can be accepted for recycling.

Before bringing your containers in, make sure you've completed the drumMUSTER checklist:

☑ Check that it displays the drumMUSTER logo (printed on the label, on a sticker or embossed into the container)

☑ Triple rinsed and free from chemical residue inside and out

☑ Remove the lid

☑ Allow the container to drain and dry

Containers not correctly prepared will not be accepted.

 

bagMUSTER

Eligible agricultural chemical bags can also be recycled through the bagMUSTER program.

Bags must be prepared in accordance with Agsafe's bagMUSTER requirements before delivery to ensure they can be accepted for recycling.

 

Preparing Your bagMUSTER Bags

Preparing your bags only takes a few minutes and helps ensure they can be recycled.

Before bringing them in:

☑ Look for the woven texture or PP5 symbol.

☑ Empty the bag completely

☑ Shake out all remaining product

☑ Remove any non-polypropylene components, such as liners or labels

☑ Roll or fold the bag neatly for easy transport

All bags are inspected before they're accepted into the bagMUSTER program.

 

ChemClear

ChemClear provides a safe disposal option for eligible unwanted or obsolete agricultural chemicals.

On Flinders Island, ChemClear collections are coordinated through Council's Household Hazardous Waste Collection events, which are generally held subject to program availability and funding.
