Northern Tasmania Regional Land Use Strategy – Have Your Say

The Northern Tasmania Regional Land Use Strategy (NTRLUS) helps guide how land across Northern Tasmania is used, developed, and protected. It sets the big-picture direction for planning decisions in each Northern Council area and gives effect to Tasmania’s planning policies at a regional level.

The current strategy was first created in 2011 and last updated in 2021. It’s now under review.

Because Flinders Island is part of the Northern Region, the strategy applies to us too. That’s why it’s really important our community gets involved — to make sure our island context, isolation, and unique way of life are properly understood and reflected in the new Strategy.

How can the Flinders community get involved?

There are a few easy ways to have your say:

You’re invited to a free, 30-minute online session on Tuesday 27 January. These sessions will:

• explain what the Regional Land Use Strategy is (and why it matters)

• show how you can influence its direction

• invite your views on what matters most for Northern Tasmania — including Flinders Island
