Tasmanian Airborne Electromagnetic Survey

Geoscience Australia and Mineral Resources Tasmania are carrying out an Airborne Electromagnetic Survey across Tasmania in 2026.

 

The helicopter and field crew are now on Flinders Island and, weather permitting, will complete survey work over Flinders Island and Cape Barren Island over the next few days.

 

The survey will collect new geoscience data to help improve understanding of Tasmania’s geology.

 

Flights will run east to west, with flight lines spaced approximately 2.5 km apart, so residents across the islands are likely to see and hear the helicopter during this time.
